David goes above and beyond his job description on a daily basis. Besides the obvious, the amazing art work he assists the consumers at Profiles Enrichment Center with, he is patient, kind, and respectful of every person he comes in contact with on a daily basis. David completes all of his paperwork with accuracy and on time. He finds a way to work one-on-one with the consumers in his class while at the same time manages to have the other folks in his class working on something meaningful. He spends countless hours working on the sets for ACTS every year, incorporating the projects into his classes so that consumers can be involved in the set designs. He is very mindful of policies and he makes sure to ask questions if he is unsure of something. I have witnessed David unclog sinks, break down all of the cafeteria tables so that the people in charge of the weekend dances didn’t have to do it, clean up messes that other people ignored, and the list could go on and on. The most valuable asset that David brings and the real reason he should be Employee of the Year is that he models all of skills and attributes to our consumers that we base our goals and rules on, putting the consumers’ needs and desires above everything else.

Bonita has been such an integral part in making our new kitchen open and run smoothly. She has time restraints that can not be altered and no matter what she always makes sure the food is fresh, hot, and ready in the time allotted. She has the unique opportunity to work with and supervise consumer workers in the kitchen. Bonita will stop what she is doing at the drop of a hat to assist a frustrated employee by demonstrating, hand over hand, or prompting. She has embraced the new philosophy of our lunch program, to prepare and serve the meal as fresh, natural, and wholesome as possible. Bonita takes food preparation seriously and not only makes sure she is following all Health Department and ServSafe guidelines, but instructs the kitchen staff to do the same. Bonita was has been instrumental in the kitchen receiving an Inspection from the Health Department with no deficiencies. She also does the food ordering based on our menus and she takes her time to make sure she is not over or under ordering to keep food cost as low as possible. The best part is how happy the consumers are with new food that Bonita and her staff are able to prepare in the fabulous new kitchen.
