We are now five months into this pandemic. I know from talking with consumers, staff and families that everyone is tired. We are tired of staying home, tired of not hugging our friends, tired of being scared and tired of wearing the masks. I appreciate everyone continuing on and working hard in spite of being tired. At this time, we have not had any consumers at Independent Living Services or Creative Living test positive for COVID-19.
We continue to screen all staff and everyone entering our facilities. As people come for visits they go through a screening process and follow our safety procedures. At this time, everyone who attends Profiles needs to be able to wear a mask. If you have a family member who has gotten better at wearing a mask and would like to talk about them returning to Profiles, please contact Caleb Walker or me. If they need to attend on a modified schedule, we are able to work with you.
I have been visiting with the UCA Occupational Therapy department for ways they can provide a virtual event for Halloween. We are trying to think outside the box on ways we can celebrate safely. I will let everyone know as we develop a plan.
Please know that I am continuing to monitor the situation and trying to make the best decisions for the individuals we serve and our employees. There are no easy answers and I appreciate everyone’s patience. I want to again thank all of the staff at Independent Living Services and Creative Living for working hard to keep everyone safe and engaged.
Thank you and stay safe,
Elissa Douglas
Executive Director
